Neglecting Alignment Before Tightening

Your turbo needs to sit straight and level before you start running those nuts down. We’ve seen installations where the turbine housing is tweaked at an odd angle because someone started tightening before checking alignment. This puts stress on the flange, creates uneven gasket compression, and will eventually cause leaks or cracks.

Mock everything up first. Check that your downpipe aligns properly. Verify that your oil and coolant lines will reach without strain. Make sure the compressor outlet points where your intake piping expects it. Once everything lines up naturally, then—and only then—start your torque sequence.

Reusing Old Gaskets

Forgetting Anti-Seize and Copper Coat
