The ATS GM Allison T87 Conversion is designed to address the common issues associated with the A50 and T14 TCMs, which are known to fail due to delicate internal wiring. In 2022, Allison discontinued support for these modules, affecting over 10,000 Duramax owners. ATS has developed a solution utilizing its Translator® technology, integrated with the Co-Pilot transmission function, to restore and enhance the performance of the Allison transmission.

This upgraded T87 TCM provides better shift quality, faster shifting, and improved drivability, thanks to a much faster processor. It increases throttle response and enhances fuel efficiency while improving torque converter lock-up response. The Co-Pilot function increases line pressure and the transmission's power-holding capability, enabling the Allison transmission to manage heavier loads and higher power levels without risking damage to the clutch packs.

Additionally, the ATS T87 Conversion offers a significantly more aggressive exhaust brake function. By utilizing custom TCM calibration and Translator technology, it maximizes the engine and turbo exhaust brake to provide enhanced braking performance, especially under heavy loads.

GM's temporary repair options are costly and do not resolve the underlying issues, while the ATS T87 upgrade offers a permanent solution with brand new components, optimized for long-term reliability and performance.
